Having the opportunity to work with young people and make a positive influence in their lives is a real privilege. It takes a whole range of special people who bring their experiences into the relationships that they form with colleagues and the boys. It requires teamwork, resilience, creativity, tenacity and a sense of humour. It is a really rewarding, engaging and professional career – and it doesn’t suit everybody.

We are a positive employer and committed to listening to and working with our staff.  As part of demonstrating this commitment, we hold the Investors in People GOLD award and you can read the full assessment report below.
We also undertake an annual employee survey and are very transparent about what our staff say to and about us – you can read the latest report below

Why work for Amberleigh Care?

Amberleigh Care operates two residential therapeutic communities (TCs) for young males 11-18. We were established in 2005 and continue to be an independent specialist service focussing on relationship based work.

Importantly, we are an Employee-Owned organisation; one of the first childcare organisations in the UK to make this change. This means that we have no individual shareholders, the staff own the service collectively and we are focussed on being a service that sees employees as people not numbers.

This status means that we have an ethical approach to funding, reinvestment of profits, social good and ensuring that the staff are actively engaged in the decision making. These principles are ‘baked in’ to the legal status of our service giving staff security, confidence and protection into the future. Ultimately when children do well, our staff do well by sharing in the success of the service each year.

Further information on our journey to becoming employee owned and to understand more about why we have made this change can be found HERE

Each site has its own separately registered school and our service is supported by an over-arching in house, multi-disciplinary clinical team lead by a forensic psychologist. As a specialist service, we work with a deliberately selected group of young people – we are very different to the majority of residential care providers. We deliver a theoretically informed practice model with careful admission and placement planning and we make use of external quality assurance. We have a small and visible senior management team who work across both our sites so we know all the staff and boys personally. We also hold the Investors in People Award.

“Amberleigh Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the DBS.”
