Having the opportunity to work with young people and make a positive influence in their lives is a real privilege. It takes a whole range of special people who bring their experiences into the relationships that they form with colleagues and the boys. It requires teamwork, resilience, creativity, tenacity and a sense of humour. It is a really rewarding, engaging and professional career – and it doesn’t suit everybody.
Experience of therapeutic childcare is desirable but we have an extensive in house training programme for both core skills and career development. We operate a high quality service with a significant focus on practice and staff support and we hold the Investors in People Award. We are committed to safeguarding and this principle underpins everything we do. You must hold a full driving licence and the minimum age for applicants is 22.
Detailed below are the current vacancies across our service together with a summary of the benefits of a career with Amberleigh Care. If you have any questions or would like to know more we would really like to hear from you.
“Training is very good and opportunities for new and updated training is consistently available.”
Why work for Amberleigh Care?
Amberleigh Care operates two residential therapeutic communities (TCs) for young males 11-18. We were established in 2005 and continue to be an independent specialist service focussing on relationship based work.
Each site has its own separately registered school and our service is supported by an over-arching in house, multi-disciplinary clinical team lead by a forensic psychologist. As a specialist service, we work with a deliberately selected group of young people – we are very different to the majority of residential care providers. We deliver a theoretically informed practice model with careful admission and placement planning and we make use of external quality assurance. We have a small and visible senior management team who work across both our sites so we know all the staff and boys personally. We also hold the Investors in People Award.
“Amberleigh Care is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure from the DBS.”
